FIRST STEPS TO LITERACY LEARNING
A child’s first learning experiences begin in the home. Children learn how to speak and listen and are introduced to story-telling and early writing at home. This website will assist you with ways to set up an environment that will support literacy learning in the home, and then assist you with ideas to support how your child acquires language skills. Throughout this website I will make reference to the Australian Curriculum to determine the expectations of literacy skills from the Foundation level upwards, and provide activities for you to do with your child to help them learn these outcomes efficiently. In order for a child to learn effectively, it is imperative that parents take an active role in their child's learning, as the home environment is extremely influential on the child's ability to learn.
